ICON EXTRACTOR · GETTING STARTED
From icon sheet to individual icons.
Install
Download the Windows x64 installer, close Icon Extractor if it is running, then run setup. .NET is included. Open the application from the Start menu or optional desktop shortcut.
Extract an icon for free
- Choose Open sheet and open a PNG, JPG, or BMP image.
- Drag around an icon. Drag inside its rectangle to move it, or use a corner to resize it. Shift+drag draws an overlapping selection.
- Use Background or the Wand to remove background pixels. Check the transparency preview. Undo restores an edit.
- Enter a filename and choose Rename.
- Choose Preview crop → Save PNG to save the selected icon.
Keep your work
Save project keeps the images, named rectangles, and background edits in a self-contained .mohaveicons file. Use Open project to return later. Ctrl+S saves and Ctrl+Z undoes an edit.
Supporter tools
Auto-select finds likely icons. Grid provides adjustable rows, columns, spacing, and label space. Review and adjust selections before exporting.
Read labels suggests names from text below icons. Review, edit, or uncheck suggestions before applying. OCR uses a recognition language installed in Windows.
Export icons can trim transparent borders, add padding, export multiple PNG sizes, and build a Windows ICO. Remove opaque backgrounds before trimming. Pixel art uses nearest-neighbor resizing.
